Walsall still one point short

Bdpcl

Abysmal weather across the West Midlands and the rest of U.K was welcomed by some teams but cursed by others as promotion and relegation matters weighed heavily throughout clubrooms in the Birmingham Midshires Birmingham & District Premier League.

A complete wash-out left Walsall needing just one point from their final match against Wolverhampton, to clinch a rare hat-trick of title successes.

Himley, the only side that can deny Walsall must pick up a maximum 24 points from their match at Kenilworth Wardens and pray that Wolverhampton deny their rivals any crumbs of comfort.

The abandonment of the match at Gorway leaves Shifnal stranded in the relegation zone and headed for Division One, after two seasons at the top level.

Any one of four Clubs could accompany them but anything less than a winning draw for West Bromwich Dartmouth at Moseley, will condemn the Sandwell Park outfit to the drop, alongside Shifnal.

Moseley require three points from the game to ensure their own safety while Kenilworth Wardens will be looking for a minimum of four points from their match against Himley.

If Dartmouth were to win next week, Leamington Spa will require 14 points from their last match against Kidderminster Victoria who reached safety - with 192 points - after the abandonment of the match at Himley.

None of the sides in the bottom four can afford to lose points to a tardy over rate, a fate that befell Leamington and Moseley last week and both Clubs will be hoping that the points deducted will not prove too costly.
