Woolley nudges Sandiacre closer
Sandiacre closed the gap with a big winning draw over leaders Ockbrook in the Beechwood SAAB Derbyshire ECB Premier League.
Lullington move into third after recording their only win in the Premier League over A&B and Chesterfield are now fourth following their draw at Quarndon.
Sandiacre Town played hosts to Ockbrook and despite posting an intimidating total of 309 for six failed to turn the screws when it came to bowling out their guests.
Sandiacre’s Ant Woolley made 93, producing the highest score of the match while James Chapman added 78 to the total with a confident performance.
Ockbrook’s Kevin Dean, the ex-Derbyshire pro finished with figures of 4-82 for the side who then went on to prevent Sandiacre from completing a win by batting out the overs with a total of 185 for six.
Dave Hallock hit 52 not out and Ryan McFadyean took 3-53 for Sandiacre who gained 19 points from the tie, leaving Ockbrook with seven.
Alfreton hosted Ilkeston in the eighth week of the 2010 season. The home side made a positive 255 for six with Matt Linekar producing a man of the match performance, contributing with 88 runs.
Linekar was supported by Andy Gwatkin who reached 43, and Tom Bentley who added an unbeaten 32. Josh Buckley proved expensive, although he was Ilkeston’s leading wicket taker finishing with 3-76.
The reply saw Ilkeston make 220 for nine with Dave Smit confidently collecting 63 runs.
Tom Young finished with figures of 3-54 which handed his side the winning draw against Ilkeston.
Dunstall hosted Matlock and gained a winning draw in a match dominated by the batsmen.
The home side posted a score of 244 for six with contributions coming from Tom Mandleberg with 33, Carl Eyden who hit 47 and John Jennings who made 48.
The score should have been achievable for Matlock but their run rate prevented them from reaching this total.
The visitors made 201 for the loss of six wickets with Kevin Leatherday hitting the top score of the day on 64, supported by Doyle on 30 and Mierkalns who added 43.
Spondon made the trip to Elvaston and managed a winning draw though were unlucky not to win as they made 310 runs for Elvaston to chase with the loss of seven wickets.
Ollie Baum looked on form with his contribution of 78 supporting man of the match Jack Ratcliffe who posted a superb 108 not out. Elvaston did well to bat out the overs and reach 179 losing nine wickets in the process.
Elvaston’s Nick Briars added 48 to the total whilst Joe Ashdown finished with figures of 5-60.
However the visiting side could not take the final wicket to win the match, leaving them with 19 points to Elvaston’s seven.
Lullington Park ensured they finished early this weekend with a confident performance at home to Alvaston and Boulton. The home side posted a score of 151, losing all of their 10 wickets in the process.
However, in the 42.5 overs Sam Eaton displayed a man of the match performance by making 90.
A and B’s bowlers looked on form too as Steve Ottewell finished with figures of 3-23 assisting Andy Gray who took 3-21.
The reply saw Alvaston and Boulton bowled out by Lullington for 92 in 31.4 overs.
Lullington’s attack dominated the innings as Alan Gough finished with 3-25 and George Chapman took three wickets at the expense of 13 runs, to give the home side a 27 point victory to Alvaston and Boulton’s five
Chesterfield made the trip to Quarndon this weekend taking 15 points away with them. The visiting side made 178 losing all ten wickets in 49.1 overs.
Slater contributed with 36, with Hibbert adding 35 to the total; however it was man of the match Matt Dowman who dominated the Chesterfield innings as he finished with figures of 6-45.
Quarndon’s response saw them hit 168 for nine. Montchin Hodge top scored on 53 while Briscoe made 41.
Simon Lacey finished on 4-35 for Chesterfield, as Quarndon received 11 points from Chesterfield’s visit.
