Cheshire Under-11s secured a nine-run win over Lincolnshire in a thrilling match at Timperley.
The hosts managed only 116, but an excellent bowling performance saw Lincolnshire bowled out for just 107 in reply.
Against a strong Lincolnshire attack Cheshire were soon in trouble with the bat.
After great opening spells by Jamie Brumby and Kris Hall there was no respite for Cheshire, who slipped to 36 for six.
However, they showed the depth in their batting and valuable partnerships involving Steve Rimmer (25), Adam Phillips (24) and Albert Pennington (16 not out) enabled Cheshire to limp to a respectable total.
Cheshire took the field determined to make it just as hard for Lincolnshire and excellent opening spells from Guy Reeve, Adam Phillips and Matty Burns reduced Lincolnshire to 46 for six.
A superb innings of 44 from Will Sutton looked to be winning the game for Lincolnshire but Elliot Young struck with with his first delivery to tilt the balance of power in Cheshire’s favour.
Some great catching, superb ground fielding and excellent captaincy from Reeve kept the pressure on the visitors and Cheshire finally captured the last wicket late on.
