World awaits Team Manchester
Team Manchester have become Last Man Stands champions and will now compete in the World Championships in South Africa in March.
The team, in their first season of LMS, triumphed at finals day at Wormsley Cricket Ground, beating Barclays Capital to take the title.
Team Manchester's star man was Imran Mirza who bludgeoned 50 from just 23 balls and he received excellent support from Sajjad Ahmed as they posted a formidable 165.
In reply, Joe Lukens and Peter Gawith accelerated after the first ten overs, both reaching 50 before having to retire.
But the remaining Barclays Capital batsmen could not maintain the rate and they fell 15 runs short.
Asif Salem was the pick of the champions’ bowlers, conceding just 18 runs from his four overs.
