New women's league for Norfolk
A women’s league has been launched in Norfolk to cope with growing interest in the game.
The Norfolk Cricket Board announced the formation of a competition which will include teams from Winterton, Fakenham, Garboldisham, Norwich and Lowestoft.
Sponsored by Thetford Grammar School, it is hoped the league will build on the development of women and girls cricket across the county - from under-13s to Norfolk representative sides.
Thetford Grammar School bursar Phil McGahan said: “Norfolk Cricket Board are to be congratulated for the considerable work they are doing in developing women’s cricket.
“Thetford Grammar School are keen to encourage sport at all levels and are therefore delighted to be sponsoring this new and exciting competition.”
Those interested in playing are encouraged to contact one of the clubs. Details can be obtained through the Norfolk Cricket Board website.
