Parnell seals final date for Sussex

Sussex will meet Wales in the final of the LV= Under-15 County Championship at Pershore on September 19.

The South Coast side won a superb semi-final with local rivals Hampshire by one wicket.

Chasing 138 to win after Eleanor Ingram scored a unbeaten half-century for Hampshire, Sussex were indebted to Sophie Parnell who single-handedly led the run chase.

She cracked 77 not out from just 70 deliveries including seven boundaries to see Sussex home.

In the other semi-final Wales beat Kent by six wickets to reach the final.

Kent batted first and scored 151 for seven with Katherine Long's 46 the mainstay of the innings.

Wales had little problem knocking off the target in the 31st over with Bethan Moorcraft, Rosie Fuge, Lauren Parfitt and Rebecca Struthers all making useful contributions.
