Lady Taverners National Finals have been cancelled due to poor weather conditions.
After the third attempt to reschedule this competition for the under-13 and under-15 age groups, it has been decided the competition will now be moved to the start of 2009 in the hope weather conditions will be more conducive to cricket.
It is hoped all teams that made it to the national final will be able to participate next year and all players who competed this year in their county and regional finals will be eligible for the finals next year.
Lady Taverners have been supportive to this competition since 2004 and with the funding support of this charity ECB have brought cricket to well in excess of 20,000 girls nationally across 2,000 teams.
The competition is designed to act as a catalyst in counties to develop girls' cricket competitions and create exit routes for girls to continue to play cricket.
To date there are over 470 girls and women's sections in England and Wales, 290 of these have a girls' section and 86 clubs are involved in the Chance to shine initiaitive - bringing competitive cricket back to state schools.
There has never been a better time to participate and give cricket a go for girls. For more information contact sue.redfern@ecb.co.uk or your local Womens Regional Cricket Development Manager via Women's Cricket.
