Academy ease to routine win

The England women’s Academy recorded a comfortable 139-run victory over a Poona under-16 mixed team in the opening match of their tour of India.

Skipper Arran Brindle led the way with 98 not out from 133 balls as the tourists were dismissed for 261 in the 49th over.

Brindle received useful support from the lower order, with Susie Rowe, Jodie Dibble and Katie Cross chipping in with 26, 21 and 24 respectively.

Poona could only muster 122 in reply as Raveena Lakhtaria claimed exceptional figures of 4-13 from seven overs.

Dibble completed a fine all-round performance by returning 2-16, while Cross, Brindle and Danni Wyatt picked up one wicket apiece.
