England women’s seamer Katherine Brunt has gone joint top of the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for bowlers after her superb performance against Australia in the NatWest Quadrangular Series final.
The 26-year-old took 5-18 yesterday to propel England to a 34-run victory and their second trophy of the summer following last month’s success in the Twenty20 competition.
Brunt currently shares top spot with Australian Shelley Nitschke but she will become the stand alone number one soon after the all-rounder announced her retirement from international cricket.
Laura Marsh is joint fifth alongside New Zealand’s Nicola Browne, while Holly Colvin remains 10th.
Claire Taylor, who announced her retirement from international cricket following England’s win over Australia yesterday, bows out of the game in fourth in the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for batters.
Two half-centuries in the NatWest Quadrangular Series has helped Lydia Greenway assume her highest ranking to date of fifth, whilst England captain Charlotte Edwards and Sarah Taylor occupy six and seventh respectively.
Meanwhile, England retain top spot in the Reliance ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings following their success yesterday, whilst Australia sit second.
