Vaughan inspires Edwards and co

Michael Vaughan, England's most successful captain, has passed on his words of wisdom to the women's squad
As if more motivation were needed as England women go in search of history in India, Ashes-winning captain Michael Vaughan has lent his support and inspiration to their mission.
The world champions, in both one-day and Twenty20 formats, have never won a series in India and their task has been made harder by the absence of star batsman Claire Taylor and spinner Holly Colvin.
But captain Charlotte Edwards believes her young side can thrive on the sub-continent.
And Vaughan, the most successful England skipper in Test history, has added his experience and knowledge to their preparation ahead of their opening one-day international against India in Bangalore tomorrow.
“We’ve never won in India. It’s a massive goal for us to win out here; we’re not taking anything for granted,” she told ecb.co.uk.
“We were lucky to have Michael come and talk to the girls. It's great to have someone of his stature - he’s very inspirational.
“I’ve had a couple of chats with him and its' very pertinent for me with him being England captain and someone we all look up to. It’s been great to have him around in the preparation.
"I’m looking forward to it; I can’t wait for the series to get under way now. The only thing on my mind right now is winning a game of cricket.”
Far from being a hindrance, Edwards has been pleased with the hunger her squad has shown and believes their youthful exuberance will give them an edge in India.
“The way the girls have trained over the last week I’ve been really impressed with them,” she added. “It’s a young team and we’ve got options. We’re really up for it.
“Our fielding will make a difference. We’re fit, we’ve got a very fit middle order, and we want to run them ragged.”
