Rain washes out England match
England’s final group match against West Indies in the 2005 Women’s World Cup was washed out as heavy rain prevented any play on the sodden Harlequins pitch in Pretoria.
The inclement weather poured in from the east and the rain continued for 16 hours, leaving large puddles of water scattered about the outfield.
Both sides took three points from the match, meaning England have qualified for the semi-finals in fourth position and will face Australia on Tuesday for a place in the final.
No play was possible in any of the other matches scheduled for Sunday, with Australia v India, New Zealand v South Africa and Sri Lanka v Ireland also suffering at the hands of the weather.
As such New Zealand will take on India in the second semi-final, to be played on Thursday.
