England have nothing but pride to play for after West Indies won the second Twenty20 international to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead in St Kitts.

The tourists were bowled out for just 99 in 19.4 overs as captain Charlotte Edwards top-scored with 41 from 44 balls including a quartet of fours.

The hosts, who won the one-day series 2-1 on Saturday, wobbled at 66 for four in the 14th over but scrambled to a five-wicket win with just five balls remaining.

The last match of England’s tour intended as preparation for next spring’s ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, another Twenty20 encounter at the same venue, is on Thursday.

Asked to bat first after another thunderstorm delayed the start by three hours, England lost both Ebony Rainford-Brent - recalled in place of Danielle Hazell - and Jenny Gunn as they slipped to 29 for two in the seventh over.

Captain Charlotte Edwards did her best to drag England towards respectability but with her and Beth Morgan ready for a late assault at 70 for two after 13 overs, both were soon back in the pavilion.

Edwards was the first to go, caught off Pamela Lavine, and was soon followed by Morgan in the same manner four balls later for 14.

The wickets kept tumbling as Lavine, who took 4-21, and Stafanie Taylor reduced England from 91 for five to 99 all out.

The tourists made an ideal start in trying to defend their modest total when Katherine Brunt trapped Taylor leg before in the first over.

But veteran Lavine, who has been the scourge of England over the last fortnight, plundered five boundaries en route to 37.

Opener Deandra Dottin chipped in with a quickfire 15, which included the game's only six, but England managed to claw their way back with spinners Holly Colvin and Laura Marsh taking a wicket apiece.

England needed quick wickets once West Indies slipped to 66 for four in the 14th over, but Stacey Ann King and Merissa Aguilleira stood firm with a vital 30-run stand.

The returning Brunt castled Aguilleira to leave the hosts needing four runs off seven balls. They required just two deliveries to complete the victory.

"It's been a disappointing couple of weeks for us," said Head Coach Mark Lane.

"We were expected to win both the one day series and this Twenty20 series but we were outplayed. The team played well for maybe 75 per cent of the match today but ultimately that's not good enough to win these sorts of games.

"I think we've all learnt a huge amount from the trip so far which will help us when we come back here in May for the ICC World Twenty20.

"There's still another match to prepare for and we'll work hard tomorrow in training and come back here on Thursday and show the West Indies the level of cricket I know we are capable of."
