Newly-crowned world champions England women will take on their Ashes rivals Australia in a Twenty20 match at the County Ground, Derby, on June 25 2009 in an exciting double header.
The clash precedes the NatWest Women’s Series between the teams and the one-off Ashes Test, which Australia must win to regain the Urn. It follows on from the World Twenty20.
Immediatelty after the women’s fixture on June 25, Derbyshire Phantoms whill host Lancashire Lightning in the Twenty20 Cup.
The action begins at 2.55pm when England take on the only team to beat them in the World Cup. Derbyshire’s match will follow at 7.10pm.
Derbyshire chief executive Keith Loring said: “Lifting the World Cup is a fantastic achievement for the women’s team and it makes their forthcoming Twenty20 visit to the County Ground all the more exciting.
“I have sent a message of congratulations to the head of England women’s cricket, Clare Connor OBE, and also wished the team luck for the forthcoming ICC Twenty20 World Championships.”
