The England Women’s Academy will meet for a number of training camps at the National Cricket Performance Centre (NCPC) at Loughborough University over the winter culminating in a tour to the Global Cricket School in India in March 2011.
After the training camp in January, the team of selectors will select a squad of players to travel to the Global Cricket School in India.
The players that will travel to India will be a balance of Academy players who need the exposure to conditions in India along with some young high potential players who need to gain important touring experience. These players may not be a part of the Academy winter training squad.
Background
The Academy aims to identify high-potential cricketers and make their transition to the England squad easier. It also works with players who have dropped out of the England squad supporting their continued training and boosting their confidence so they can once again challenge for places in the England squad.
