Golf, Ashes and Lottie

We have had a really busy week this week so I might seem as if I’m going on quite a bit. On Tuesday we started off with our weights session, which was followed by a 30-minute walk back to our house, as our car wasn’t working – we’ve managed to borrow one from a friend in return for dropping them off at training.
On the day we participated in a school training session in which Beth and I got smashed round the park by all the kids.
Wednesday was our golfing day. There were four Poms (Beth, me, Natalie Lane and Robin Still) and two Aussies (Leah Poulton and Charlotte Anneveld). We arrived and there was Nat and Leah looking like true pros on the practice greens.
They even had proper golfing outfits plus Nat had a golf glove. I was a little nervous, as I’m not the best at golf. So when Nat teed up on the first tee I expected to see the ball go miles not just fall off the tee with a miss hit like it actually did.
It took two hours to get through nine holes but I think that was slightly due to the gales force winds we were playing in.
On Thursday we had another good bowling session with the Breakers. This week there was a special appearance from another Pommy. England captain Lottie came to bowl as well and was straight in there with the Aussie also giving me lots of banter as always.
One of the funniest moments of the night was Beth getting hit into Bay 6, the third tier of the Aussie football stadium. Lisa Keightley (Breakers coach) turned around and seriously told Beth she owed her 50 bucks to replace the lost ball.
On Saturday we were proper tourists and went into the city to do some sightseeing. We all started at the farmers market and then spilt up to go our separate ways.
Beth and I walked through the Royal Botanical Gardens, which were quite nice even if it did have some really loud horrible rock music coming from a concert next door. We then walked to the Sydney Opera House and finished watching the Ashes on a big TV screen at Circular Quay.
We left just before lunch, which was a good choice as there was a big thunderstorm in the afternoon so I was so glad to be at home.
On Sunday it was another Twenty20 weekend, which was quite a trek, as we had to travel all the way to Campbell Town, which is about an hour away.
Cheesy’s team won two out of two with Cheesy picking up a couple of wickets. Beth’s team also won two with her scoring 58 and bowling three maidens out of the first six overs in her first game.
My team only had one game against Northern District. We scored 188 with Midge (Alyssa Healy) scoring a quickfire 40 then Olivia Thornton and I putting a good partnership together, and I finished on 68 not out. We won quite easily in the end, keeping them to 134.
Next weekend it’s the first time that there’s no state game so all the Breakers are back for the big game against Wallsend. Yes that means playing Cheesy again!
