Raj leads India squad
India women’s squad for the summer tour of Ireland and Englandis led by Mithali Raj, with Jhulan Goswani as vice-captain.
Raj, 23, made her ODI debut against Ireland in a match at Milton Keynes in 1999, scoring 114 not out; and made a world record-breaking 214 in a Test against England at Taunton in 2002. Last year she helped India to the World Cup final appearance in South Africa, where they eventually went down to Australia.
Under the new captaincy of Charlotte Edwards, England will host a NatWest Women’s Series comprising five one-day internationals, a two-match npower Test Series and a NatWest International Women’s Twenty20 - which kicks off the action on August 5 at Derby.
England are looking for revenge on home soil after going down 4-1 in the one-day series in India last winter.
India head across the Irish Sea for two one-day matches against Ireland on July 29 and 30, before heading for Uppingham School for practice at the Rutland venue on Tuesday August 1 ahead of warm-up matches for the start of the internationals.
England play an England Development XI that same day, while India will take on the Development XI the following day; and then MCC on August 3.
