Essex youngsters head to Dubai
The best young women cricketers in Essex will be heading to Dubai in February to take part in the MCC U19 Women's Arch Trophy tournament.
The trip will consist of eight days in Dubai and will be a very competitive tournament giving the Essex players the best preparation for their season ahead.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for our young, high potential girls to play competitive cricket outside the season in excellent surroundings and different conditions," said Women and Girls' Head Coach Matt Hyam.
"It will allow the girls to see where they are in their cricket development."
The tour party will consist of players aged 14 and up, some of which have been part of the Essex women's first XI squad already. Two players are part of England Women Development Programme at U15 level.
The squad, who are being supported by Essex Cricket Community Trust and former Essex captain Ronnie Irani, are trying to raise funds to cover the cost of the tour and have have planned various activities including a quiz night, high street collections in Chelmsford and Brentwood, car wash and a sponsored run and cycle.
