On February 9 the whole team met up at The National Cricket Centre at Loughborough University. We had a three-day training camp before heading down to London on Monday for our early morning flight on the 13th.
It was quite strange being back with the team and it felt like it was my first camp again. Since I've been back from Australia I've been ill with a virus so was unable to do anything all weekend but it was good to be back around the team.
We arrived in India at 1am on the 14th. It was only 30 minutes to the hotel, which was marvellous as we were all tired and were ready to go to sleep. We arrived at the hotel around 2am.
Our hotel is very nice and luxurious. I have been lucky enough to share a room with the captain (Lottie) so have to be on my best behaviour.
On the 15th we had our first practice at Mac 'A', which is a Test ground and the main stadium for the tournament. The wickets were pretty good and it was great to get back out on grass.
We were given the afternoon off so I asked if it was all right to meet up with some of the Aussie players - I have never been given so much stick!
I loved it how Beth and Shaggy kept quiet and let me get it all but then at lunch they both came up to me and said they wanted to come with me. So much for it being a team game!
On the 18th we played our first warm-up game against India B. Lottie won the toss and chose to bat. The outfield was like lightning and we set them a total of 260. Tails (Claire Tailor) batted well for 50-odd and everyone else chipped in with 20s or 30s to reach our total.
They came out all guns blazing and it was quite a hard ground to defend as once it was past you it was a four. After some good hitting we managed to get a breakthrough from a great catch by Isa (Guha) on the boundary diving forward.
This was followed up next ball by Boggy (Laura Marsh) throwing the stumps down and from there wickets kept falling and we bowled them out for 163, with Holly (Colvin) getting her first five-wicket haul.
The second game, against India A, we lost the toss and were asked to field. We got off to a good start when Laura (Newton) took a good catch off my bowling at slip, which was followed by Boggy getting a couple in her opening spell. We were really on the ball in the field with everyone moving and working well as a team and we managed to bowl them out for 66.
The highlight of the innings had to be Ebony's first wicket as she did a little dance, which was quite entertaining. We lost two early wickets in our reply but Lottie and Tails finished it off in around 15 overs.
As it was a warm-up game we were allowed to carry on batting so that our batters could get some time out in the middle. So we all had a bit of a hit and I can say that Pommy Beth hit one of the biggest sixes I have ever seen. It didn't even hit the grass after the rope, it was massive.
We are all really happy with the past two days and now can't wait for the tournament to start and get amongst it.
