Kent schools progress to finals
Sandwich Tech and Sir Roger Manwood schools progressed to the regional finals after winning the under-13 and under-15 titles at the Lady Taverners Indoor schools competitions.
The two events, hosted by Kent, attracted more than three times as many entries as previous years with 17 school teams taking part in the under-13 competition and 15 entering at under-15 level.
Sandwich Tech secured the under-13 title by beating Highworth by 52 runs to 51 in the final on February 10. And they will now go on to represent Kent at the regionals on April 21 at Hertfordshire Sports Village, Hertford.
Sir Roger Manwood beat Highworths by 63 runs to 53 in their final on February 24 and they go onto their regionals a day later.
Programmes mnager for the Kent cricket board Heidi Coleman said: "We were thoroughly delighted with the level of cricket on both days. These two competitions further illustrate the high standards that we set in Kent.
“I would like to thank every team that took part for helping to make things so successful. Hopefully Sandwich Tech and Sir Roger Manwood can now go on and achieve further success at their respective regional finals in April.”
