Morgan lands Lancashire role
Derek Morgan has succeeded Jonathan Finch as the head coach of Lancashire women’s first team.
Morgan, a cricket development coach based in North Trafford, has coached the Lancashire Under-15 girls for several years and is also in charge of the England Moderate Learning Difficulties Squad.
Jenny Laycock, captain of Lancashire women and a cricket development officer, said: “Derek has worked with many of the up-and-coming first XI players in his time with the U15s squad.
“He is aware of the new players coming through and the way in which the current squad need to train to enable us to get the most out of every player.
“I'm sure Derek will enjoy the role and the girls will react well to his style of coaching. I am looking forward to an exciting 2013 season.”
Morgan added: “I am thrilled to accept the role as head coach of the women’s senior squad at a really exciting time in the development of the women’s and girls’ game in Lancashire.
“Coming off the back of the junior squads’ national successes this season it appears the game is in a healthy state and translating this success to the senior squad in the coming years is a challenge that motivates me.”
