The Windies moved to six points in the Super Six table - the top two play in Sunday’s showpiece at the same venue - two behind Australia and two ahead of today’s opponents and England.

On Wednesday West Indies face Australia, knowing they will meet them again on Sunday if they avoid defeat. England and New Zealand, who also clash on Wednesday in a repeat of the 2009 final, will hope to take advantage of an Australia win.

Today the Windies, who were pegged back by Morna Nielsen’s 3-27 from 10 overs, built a total of 207 for nine on Stafanie Taylor’s 49, Shanel Daley’s 37 and Anisa Mohammed’s unbeaten 31.

Three wickets for Tremayne Smartt and two each for the economical duo of Taylor and Deandra Dottin saw the White Ferns dismissed in the 45th over, sparking wild celebrations among the victors.
