Rudd steers Sussex home
Sussex won the Under-15 County Championship after defeating Wales by three wickets.
Winning the toss, Sussex put Wales into bat and started well with Samantha Wright taking a wicket in the first over.
Sussex bowled and fielded exceptionally well and took wickets at regular intervals to dismiss Wales for 100 in 27 of their 35 overs. Lauren Parfitt top scored with 29.
Wright, Georgina Aloof, Sophie Bowen and Emma Adams all took two wickets each.
Despite having a small total to defend, Wales battled stubbornly and gave themselves a glimmer of hope by taking wickets.
But standing in their way of an unlikely win was Sussex wicketkeeper Carla Rudd who led Sussex to the championship with an unbeaten 37 to add to two earlier stumpings.
What makes Sussex's win all the more impressive is that a number of players were absent playing for the under-17s who finished runners-up.
