Super 4s is back
The women’s Super 4s competition returns next month for the first time since 2008.
The tournament sees the best 48 players divided into four balanced squads to generate the highest level of competition
The current 48 are the existing England party, the Academy squad and 10 high potential youngsters who are only a few steps away from the Academy
The teams will each play two Twenty20 matches at Kibworth CC in Leicestershire on May 2. These will be followed by 50-over games at Loughborough University on May 7 and 14.
After these contests the selectors will convene on May 16 to choose the England and Academy squads for this summer’s internationals.
Some new names to look out for are wicketkeepers Amy Jones and Laura Tonks, from Warwickshire and Northamptonshire respectively, Sussex pace bowler Izi Noakes and left-arm spinner Alex Hartley from the Lancashire Academy.
There will also be a Junior Super 4s, involving the best 16-19-year-olds, in August.
