Guildford and Dulwich triumph indoors
Guildford and Dulwich yesterday respectively won the trophy and plate competitions of a women’s indoor tournament run by the Surrey Cricket Board.
Supported financially from the ECB, the tournament aimed to introduce women’s teams to the indoor version of the game.
Guildford overhauled Ashford’s 90 with four balls remaining in their semi-final yesterday.
In the decider Purley Redoubtables scored 80 for two in eight overs, but Guildford batted sensibly to secure a well-earned victory with just two deliveries left. Shepperton beat Ashford to third place.
In the plate final Dulwich made 68 for four against Streatham & Marlborough, who were then limited to 45 for four from eight overs. Spencer came third and Epsom fourth.
