Findon and Horsham thank ECB
Two clubs in Sussex are celebrating after grants from the ECB allowed them to make much-needed ground improvements.
Findon CC and Horsham CC have redeveloped their net facilities thanks to grants which were awarded in part due to their commitment to developing women and girls’ cricket.
Findon are seeking to increase the numbers of girls participating at the club after being included in the Sussex Cricket Board ‘Chance 2 Shine Girls Project’, part of the Cricket Foundation’s Chance to Shine scheme.
Both clubs are hosting opening ceremonies, which will see the new facilities opened by Sussex and England women’s players Caroline Atkins, Holly Colvin and Sarah Taylor.
The ceremony at Horsham will take place at 6pm on Friday, whilst Findon’s opening will be held at 10am the following day.
Tim Shutt, Sussex Cricket Board’s cricket development manager, said: “Obviously these improved net facilities are there to benefit the entire club, but both of these clubs are currently placing a significant emphasis on developing the level of women and girls activity in their respective clubs, in terms of the quantity and also quality.
“These improved practice facilities will be a significant contributory factor to achieving their objectives in this area.
“Although additional funding has been sought, both clubs would like to record their thanks to the ECB for their significant contributions.”
