Agar lengthens tour stay
Australia have asked 19-year-old spinner Ashton Agar to stay on their tour of India for longer than originally scheduled.
The left-arm tweaker was originally set to head back Down Under prior to tomorrow’s warm-up encounter with India A.
However, he has now been asked to remain in the country to play in the clash at the India Cement Limited Guru Nanak College Ground.
Australia will tackle India in a four-Test series, with national selector John Inverarity not ruling out the possibility of Agar featuring.
"The plan at the moment is that he returns in time to play for Western Australia but there is a possibility that he could stay a bit longer," said Inverarity.
"We needed someone to make up the XI and it was a very good opportunity to invest an opportunity in a promising young player."
Skipper Michael Clarke and opener David Warner will miss the encounter, with Agar to play alongside fellow slow bowlers Xavier Doherty and Nathan Lyon.
