West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council for celebrating a wicket before the umpire’s decision in the one-day international win over India in Chennai.
Bravo was found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct by match referee Alan Hurst at a hearing which took place after the match.
The medium-pacer crossed the line with his reaction after he felt he had Dinesh Karthik caught behind.
Hurst said: “Although Dwayne Bravo later apologised to the umpire for his actions, he must recognise the need to respect the official and turn and appeal, especially for a fine edge through to the wicket-keeper.”
The level 1 offence carries a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum one of a fine of 50 per cent of a match fee.
