Asif worry for Pakistan

Pakistan paceman Mohammad Asif may miss next month’s home one-day series against Bangladesh as he continues his recovery from an elbow injury.

The 25-year-old has been out of action since October and is now following a rehabilitation programme after undergoing surgery in Sydney.

However, Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson is confident Asif will join the squad soon, even if he misses the series against Bangladesh, which includes five-one-day matches and a Twenty20 international.

The series begins in Lahore on April 8 and the selectors will name the squad on Saturday.

Asif’s fitness is also a concern for Indian Premier League side Delhi, who have paid US$650,000 for his services during the competition, which starts in April.
