Rob Quiney & Shane Watson

Shane Watson watches on as Rob Quiney prepares for the Adelaide Test. The former has once again been ruled out due to a calf injury

Australia have named an unchanged line-up for the second Test against South Africa, with Shane Watson once again missing out on selection.

After missing the series-opening draw at Brisbane with a calf injury, Watson was initially named in a 13-man squad for this week’s clash at the Adelaide Oval.

However, Australia have opted not to risk the all-rounder, who revealed over the weekend he would not be fit enough to bowl.

Rob Quiney will therefore retain his place at number three, having made nine runs on debut at the Gabba, while left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc serves as 12th man for a second successive match.

South Africa have made two changes in the absence of JP Duminy, who ruptured his Achilles tendon in a training drill that followed the first day’s play in Brisbane.

Former Lancashire all-rounder Francois du Plessis has been predictably chosen as Duminy’s replacement at number six and will make his maiden Test appearance.

Imran Tahir also comes in as a frontline spin option, with Rory Kleinveldt the man to make way.
