Australia complete whitewash
Australia completed a 3-0 one-day series whitewash of Bangladesh in another one-sided affair at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah.
After skittling Bangladesh for 124 in 42.3 overs, the Australians wasted no time in completing a nine wicket win, cruising to their victory target in just 22.4 overs.
Debutant Mark Cosgrove crashed 74 from 69 balls before he became Bangladesh’s only victim of the day when he was bowled by Abdur Razzak.
Simon Katich finished not out on 42 as the Australians finished the job with more than 27 overs to spare.
Earlier, Bangladesh had got themselves into trouble from the moment they won the toss and opted to bat.
They lost opener Shahriar Nafees lbw to the third ball of the innings from Mitchell Johnson, before Aftab Ahmed was caught behind by Adam Gilchrist off the bowling of Brett Dorey for one.
Mohammad Ashraful (13) fell cheaply to James Hopes before Rajin Saleh (37) and Habibul Bashar (33) staged a mini-recovery with a partnership of 39 before Saleh was deceived by the off-spin of Michael Clarke.
Alok Kapali was caught by Katich off Brad Hogg for five before Bashar’s departure left the home side reeling at 107 for six.
Khaled Mashud (11), Mohammad Rafique (0), Mashrafe Mortaza (two) and Razzak (one) all fell cheaply, as the one-sided nature of the series continued.
Brad Hogg finished with figures of 3-17 off six overs as his left-arm chinamen bamboozled the Bangladeshi batsmen.
