Simmons and Samuels seal series

Marlon Samuels evades a bouncer. His unbeaten 88 gave West Indies an eight-wicket win and the series with a game to spare
Lendl Simmons and Marlon Samuels powered West Indies to a second successive comprehensive win over Bangladesh in Mirpur today to give them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the one-day series.
Following Thursday’s 40-run success, in which Simmons made 122 and Samuels 71, the tourists were even more impressive today.
They reduced their hosts to one for three from 10 balls and, although Bangladesh recovered to post 220 all out, Simmons struck 80 and Samuels hammered 88 not out from 74 deliveries to earn the Windies an eight-wicket win with more than seven overs to spare.
Opening bowlers Ravi Rampaul and Kemar Roach made a blistering start for the Windies, the former removing Imrul Kayes with the fourth ball of the match and Roach, who took 3- 49 from 10 overs, snaring Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Ashraful in his first over.
Shakib Al Hasan started positively but fell to Rampaul, who claimed a miserly 2-27 from 10 overs, to leave Bangladesh 18 for four, but Alok Kapali (20) joined Mushfiqur Rahim in a stand of 40 for the fifth wicket and Naeem Islam (30) helped his captain and wicketkeeper add 57 for the sixth.
Mushfiqur's valiant 109-ball innings, which featured only two fours and a six, ended on 69 when he pulled Andre Russell straight to Samuels at deep square-leg, but Nasir Hossain took up the baton.
He progressed at almost a run a ball, despite hitting only three fours and a six, and Abdur Razzak contributed well at the other end with 25 from 19 balls.
But the latter was run out and, even though Nasir reached a fifty from 53 deliveries, he was then bowled by a Darren Sammy slower ball to end the innings with 1.1 overs unused.
Simmons and Danza Hyatt were sedate in reply until the latter strolled down the pitch to loft Razzak for the first of four sixes in his 39.
Simmons clicked into gear with a four and a maximum in the seventh over, from Shafiul Islam, and Hyatt pulled Rubel Hossain for another maximum.
He was badly dropped on the boundary by Shakib and hit 11 from Razzak’s next over before heaving Shakib to long-off, where Rubel took a good catch diving forwards.
Simmons and Samuels accrued runs at a healthy rate, the former taking a four and a six off successive Ashraful deliveries shortly after reaching 50.
He was trapped lbw trying to sweep Shakib, who picked up 2-30, his 80 coming from 125 balls with three fours and as many sixes.
But Samuels, who had just reached a 52-ball half-century, hit three successive fours off Rubel and then a six and two fours in one Shafiul over and, three balls after being spared when Nasir grassed a difficult return chance, he struck the winning run.
