The value of Shakib Al Hasan to his country has been underlined by Bangladesh calling up two players to replace him for the Tests in Sri Lanka.

Left-arm spinner Enamul Haque jnr is back after an absence of more than three years, while batsman Mominul Haque has been rewarded for his impressive one-day international displays with a first Test call-up.

Shakib is currently sidelined by calf trouble, which requires surgery.

Enamul Haque jnr has been recalled to Bangladesh's Test squad after more than three years due to Shakib Al Hasan's calf trouble

"This was a tough selection, because we had to pick two players to replace Shakib," said chief selector Akram Khan in quotes reported on Cricinfo.

"Enamul won the left-arm spinner's position ahead of Mosharraf Hossain and Saqlain Sajib. He is in form and has Test experience.

“Mominul was also a tough call but we need a left-hander in the middle order, so Marshall Ayub, despite his two double-hundreds (in domestic cricket), misses out."

Bangladesh have also handed recalls to Jahurul Islam and Robiul Islam, but Elias Sunny has been overlooked.

The first of two Tests with Sri Lanka begins on March 8, with three ODIs and a solitary Twenty20 international to follow.

Bangladesh Test squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (captain), Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Shariar Nafees, Anamul Haque, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abul Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Haque jnr, Jahurul Islam, Mominul Haque, Shahadat Hossain, Robiul Islam.
