David Hemp wants Bermuda to end their four-game losing streak in the ICC World Cricket League Division 1 on Monday - but knows it will be far from easy with Scotland the opponents at Ruaraka.
The Glamorgan captain top-scored for Bermuda on Sunday with 58, but could not prevent his side slipping to an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of the Netherlands.
In contrast, the Scots clinched their fourth straight win by overcoming Kenya to secure their place in the final, and with it a berth at the inaugural ICC Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa later this year.
Hemp said: "We don't want to come here and lose five. We want to win a game. It's a one-day international and it's against the top side.
“If we can beat Scotland that's a positive to take from the tournament, especially because they're going to be playing in the final now.
“Monday is another day, you've got to think positive. Scotland have won four out of four so they're flying at the moment.
“They might try to rest players because they have the final now to consider in a couple of days.
“But they're still going to be competitive, it's still going to be a difficult game. And we've got pride to play for.”
On a personal level, the 36-year-old was pleased to get some runs under his belt, but he could not hide his disappointment for the team.
“It's nice to get some runs, I've obviously been a bit short the last couple of games but I've been feeling good,” he said.
“Today, with losing a few early wickets it was a case of trying to limit the risks and bat as long as I could.
“It's disappointing from our point of view that we resurrected it from 11 for three to at one stage looking like we could get 220, 230, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
“We came up short with the bat and it made their job chasing a lot easier than if we'd got 230, 240, which we could have done.”
