Scorchers feel the heat
West Indies paceman Kemar Roach inspired Brisbane Heat to Big Bash League glory with a 34-run win over hosts Perth Scorchers in the final.
Roach had managed only two wickets in his seven tournament games but took 3-18 from four overs, crucially removing Adam Voges for 49, to limit Perth to 133 for nine at the WACA.
Nathan Hauritz, who opened the bowling, was man of the match for three athletic catches and as many wicketless overs that cost just 11 runs.
Joe Burns’ 47 and 37 each from Luke Pomersbach and Dan Christian lifted Brisbane, who won the toss, to a competitive 167 for five. Alfonso Thomas, the only county player in the final, failed to make a breakthrough in his four overs.
