Bond: I'll be back
New Zealand bowler Shane Bond has no plans on retiring after his latest injury setback.
The Black Caps pace merchant returned to Christchurch on Wednesday after an abdominal muscle tear prematurely ended his tour of South Africa in Johannesburg.
But he rejected suggestions he was unable to continue at the highest level.
"This is just a minor setback,” he said.
“I thought I was playing reasonably well, my body was feeling good and I was taking a few wickets.
“I've thought about it (retirement), but this is a minor. If I did it at home, I probably wouldn't have thought about it. There's injuries across the board for our bowlers, I just tend to get a little more press than some others.
"I still haven't got out of bed and thought I can't bowl fast any more, but I'm also realistic that I can't keep getting injured all the time. At this stage I'll come back but it's always in the back of my mind.”
The 32-year-old is now aiming to return to fitness for the visit of Bangladesh in December.
