Alex Hales’ Melbourne Renegades were eliminated from the Big Bash League as Luke Pomersbach blasted Brisbane Heat into the final with a scintillating batting display.

Pomersbach, who smashed 82 from 42 deliveries in his side’s final group game, pummelled 112 not out from 70 balls on this occasion, underpinning an imposing score of 183 for three in the competition’s first semi-final.

Melbourne could only muster 168 for nine in reply, with Hales, a star performer on his debut last week when striking 89, the first man out for a 15-ball 20.

Brisbane now await the winner of Wednesday’s clash between Melbourne Stars, who have Luke Wright and Dimitri Mascarenhas in their squad, and Perth Scorchers.
