Opening bowlers set up Canada triumph
The admirable efforts of Junaid Siddiqui and Henry Osinde ultimately proved crucial as Canada battled to a five-wicket win over Kenya in the first Twenty20 international of two in Dubai.
Canada’s opening bowlers shared six early wickets, with leg-spinner Siddiqui’s three scalps coming at a cost of just 10 runs.
As a result, Kenya were only able to post a modest 126 for nine, despite Rakep Patel’s brisk unbeaten 48.
That total proved well within the reach of Canada, who were aided by Hiral Patel’s run-a-ball 40 from the top of the order as they made it home with nine deliveries to spare.
Kenya had emerged victorious in two 50-over meetings earlier this week, triumphing by six wickets on each occasion.
The two teams meet again at the same venue tomorrow, prior to a four-day Intercontinental Cup match starting on Monday.
