TwelfthMan: My account
Stuart Clark has been called up by Australia for the first Test against South Africa in Perth next week.
The New South Wales paceman replaces spin bowler Stuart MacGill in the 12-man squad and is set to make his Test debut.
Chairman of selectors Trevor Hohns said: “It is simply a conditions selection. We felt we needed to include another fast bowler specifically for the conditions at the WACA ground.
“Stuart Clark has been a steady performer for a long time and we have seen that through his performances in the one-day matches in New Zealand.”
Brett Lee, who has had a minor operation on a nasal condition, is expected to be fully fit for the Test.
Meanwhile, Cameron White and Mick Lewis have been included in the Australia team for the third Chappell-Hadlee Trophy match against New Zealand on Saturday.
And Mitchell Johnson, who flew in overnight to replace Lee, will make his debut as the super-sub for the one-day international at the Jade Stadium in Christchurch.
Australia captain Ricky Ponting has omitted all-rounder Brad Hogg from the team with the series already won.
