Michael Clarke has scored six Test centuries in 33 matches for Australia

Cricket Australia have announced that vice-captain Michael Clarke will arrive in the Caribbean next Wednesday and will be available for the Second Test.

Clarke did not travel with the national squad in order to spend time with his partner Lara Bingle, whose father, Graham, lost his battle with cancer last Saturday.

The batsman signalled his intention to join his team-mates in the West Indies after Bingle's funeral on Friday. He will be unavailable for the First Test, which starts next Thursday.

"It has been a tough week for Lara and her family, I am glad I have been here," said Clarke.

"We are grateful for the numerous cards of condolence over the past week and the kind words from friends, family and the public.

"I have decided to remain in Sydney for a couple more days to be with the family.

"I will miss the first Test and am sure the boys will serve Australia well. I am looking forward to catching up with the team and being ready to go for the Second Test in Antigua."

Cricket Australia general manager Michael Brown said Clarke had CA's "absolute support".

Clarke's decision to tour is likely to result in Victoria batsman Brad Hodge being released from the squad and free to fulfil his commitments in the Indian Premier League.
