Curran confirmed as Zimbabwe boss
Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin Curran has been confirmed as the coach of the national team by the interim committee of Zimbabwe Cricket.
Curran has been in charge of the national team since September last year, and was confirmed in his role while former Test cricketer Andy Pycroft was appointed coach of the Zimbabwe A team and Walter Chawaguta put in charge of the Under 19 side.
However, the naming of a new national team captain was delayed as several key player issues need to be settled. A decision will be made at the next board meeting in a month’s time.
No team managers have been named at present, with ZC planning to make appointments on a tour-by-tour basis.
Dilop Chouhan has already been confirmed as the team manager for the ICC Under 19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
A new three-member selection panel was named and former first class cricketer Bruce Makovah is the new convenor while Curran and Zimbabwe Cricket Academy manager Kudzai Shoko are the other members.
Meanwhile, the interim board confirmed that a team of auditors will investigate allegations of financial mismanagement by the previous board.
They will look at the accounts for the period of May-December 2005.
