Former Canada captain John Davison will captain Australia in next month’s Hong Kong Sixes.
The 38-year-old, who has played 25 one-day internationals for Canada - the country of his birth - currently fills the role of senior coach at the Cricket Australia Centre of Excellence.
He represented Victoria and South Australia at first-class level, and will serve as Australia’s player-coach during the six-a-side tournament in Kowloon from November 8-9.
Davison - best known for hitting the quickest World Cup century in history, off 67 balls, for Canada against West Indies in 2003 - is comfortably the oldest member of a squad that contains two players who competed last year, New South Wales all-rounder Steve O’Keefe and Queensland batsman Nathan Reardon.
Tasmanian pace bowler Brendan Drew - the next most experienced member of the squad at 24 - NSW all-rounder David Warner and Victoria pair John Hastings and Michael Hill are also among the seven-strong squad that will fly out to Hong Kong on November 6.
Australia have been drawn alongside the All-Stars, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong in the Sobers group, with the top two sides qualifying for the round-robin semi-finals alongside two teams from the Bradman Group, which consists of England, South Africa, India and Pakistan.
