Blain blasts out Namibia
John Blain gave Scotland the advantage on day one of their ICC Intercontinental Cup clash with Namibia in Windhoek.
The seamer made 34, Scotland's highest score with the bat in a team total of 140, and then took five wickets as the home side allowed Scotland back into the match, handing them an innings lead of 25 runs.
Namibia's Gerrie Snyman took four Scottish wickets as the visiting side began the match in worrying fashion.
Only former England international Gavin Hamilton, who made 32, Blain and Glenn Rogers (13) reached double figures, and the 30 extras gifted to the visitors were gratefully accepted.
Scotland had to cope without Dewald Nel, who was taken ill just hours before the four-day match began.
Although they began poorly, Namibia fared worse and Jan-Berrie Burger and Sarel Burger both fell for first-ball ducks to Blain's medium-fast pace.
They went caught and bowled, and bowled, respectively and Snyman soon followed for just four.
Namibia recovered to make 115, as Blain finished with figures of 5-45 and former captain Craig Wright took 4-38 to bowl them out just before the scheduled close of play.
