Calum MacLeod proved to be the difference for Scotland as they beat Canada by four wickets with 7.5 overs remaining in the ICC World Cricket League Championship one-day international at Ayr today.

The 23-year-old Glaswegian reached 99 not out from 127 balls as he steered Scotland to victory almost single-handedly.

The match had been postponed on previous days this week due to heavy rain, but the weather stayed fair as the hosts set about the Canada batsmen after electing to field.

Callum MacLeod's unbeaten 99 gave Scotland a four-wicket win over Canada at Ayr today and moved them second in the table

Opener Ruvindu Gunasekera scored 53 for Canada but only Zeeshan Siddiqi, with 43, made another telling contribution before he hit his own wicket.

Gordon Goudie and Majid Haq were the pick of the Scotland bowlers, taking two wickets each as the visitors were dismissed for 176 with five balls unused.

MacLeod then took centre stage, hitting 12 fours, although his task was made harder as none of his team-mates could stay with him for a long period of time.

Only Josh Davey and Goudie, with 23 and 17 respectively, reached double-figures but MacLeod’s runs were enough to put Scotland second above the United Arab Emirates, who have two games in hand.
