Coleman and Cross earn Scotland deals
Warwickshire’s Frederick Coleman and Nottinghamshire’s Matthew Cross have been awarded Cricket Scotland development retainers.
Both featured for Scotland in August’s Under-19 World Cup and have been awarded deals that will ensure their development is managed in a partnership between Cricket Scotland and their respective counties and universities.
Coleman is currently with Warwickshire while studying and playing for Oxford MCCU, and Cross is at Loughborough playing for their MCCU side and is committed to Nottinghamshire for next summer.
Cricket Scotland performance director Andy Tennant said: "We believe both Freddie and Matthew have outstanding potential and we are committed to working in partnership with both players' counties and universities to ensure that their development is properly managed.
“There are many demands placed on young players at this stage of their development and we want to make sure that the best young Scottish players are given every chance to be successful in the long term. We believe the development retainer they have been awarded will help make this happen. Hopefully both players will press their claims for international representation over the coming year."
