Cricket spreads to Germany
The German Cricket Federation hosted their inaugural girls U17 indoor tournament in Oldenburg on February 17-18.
Teams participating in the tournament included the Holland national U17 team, together with girls from Mounts Bay School in Penzance and Gloucestershire’s Newent Community School.
A Swiss team unfortunately had to cancel at the last moment, but volunteers from all teams formed a President's select VIII under the stewardship of DCB chairman, Dr Brian Fell.
The eight teams were seeded into two groups playing on two small pitches. Following the round-robin matches on the Saturday, the main semi-finals and plate semi-finals and finals were played on the Sunday on a larger pitch.
The German girls improved their game skills over the course of the two days by watching the more experienced Dutch and English teams.
The Dutch Lions were eventual winners after beating Mounts Bay Community School in the final.
Final positions:

Mounts Bay Community School (Cornwall)
Newent Community School (Gloucestershire)
