Duo scoop prestigious gongs

ICC Pepsi Development Programme

Europe’s regional winners for ECB the ACO Shepherd–Frindall Awards 2010 have been announced by the International Cricket Council.

The winners have been chosen in two categories: ‘Behind the Scenes’ and ‘Lifetime Achiever’.

Wraye Wenigmann, from Germany, has been named as the winner in the former, while Duco Ohm, from Holland, scooped the latter.

Wenigmann was an experienced scorer for Deutscher Cricket Bund and is now a member of the ICC European Scorers’ Panel. She also played an instrumental role in getting women’s cricket up and running in Germany.

Meanwhile, Ohm has 60 years of experience and is a well respected member of Amsterdam CC, where he still plays enthusiastically and holds administrative roles both with the ACC and KNCB.

ICC regional development manager Richard Holdsworth said: “Both Wraye and Duco really deserve their awards for contributing so much towards the development of cricket in their respective countries as well as the rest of Europe.

“Wraye has contributed so much to many different aspects including communications and the officiating side of the game and really helped develop Women’s cricket when ICC first integrated the men’s and women’s games in 2005.

“Similarly, Duco has been an outstanding member of cricket development having spent over 60 years in the game and having played an important part in all processes within his numerous roles.”
