Jan Stander hit a battling 48 for Scotland, but their total of 123 was ultimately inadequate in the Twenty20 in Nairobi
Scotland were devastated by seamer Nehemiah Odhiambo in the final Twenty20 match of the Kenya Tri-Series as the hosts coasted to a 10-wicket victory in Nairobi and with it confirmation of top spot in the table.
Gavin Hamilton’s side, who lost by the same margin when they faced Kenya three days ago, were asked to bat first by home captain Maurice Ouma and made only 123 all out.
Kyle Coetzer and Fraser Watts both made half-centuries against Uganda yesterday but fell for nine and nought respectively as Scotland’s top order faltered to 38 for five.
Hamilton dug in for 28 and South Africa-born Jan Stander weighed in with a face-saving 48 from number seven, but it was not enough as Odhiambo returned a devastating 5-20.
Odhiambo’s haul made him just the second bowler to take five wickets in a Twenty20 international, after Pakistan’s Umar Gul, and his debutant brother Nelson also picked up two wickets.
Hamilton shuffled his pack in vain as he tried to defend the modest score but the experience of Kenya openers David Obuya, with 65 not out, and Steve Tikolo, with an unbeaten 56, told as they moved to 126 without loss with 33 balls remaining.
The pair hit 15 boundaries and three sixes between them as seven Scotland bowlers tried their luck without success.
