Davey haul underpins Scotland win

Gordon Drummond claimed a wicket with the first ball of the match to set Scotland on their way to victory against Afghanistan
Josh Davey turned in remarkable figures of 5-9 as Scotland levelled their two-match one-day series against Afghanistan with a six-wicket win in Ayr.
The 20-year-old had just one wicket to his name from three matches when he came on to bowl first change following the tourists’ decision to bat first.
But the seamer quickly began dismantling Afghanistan’s batting line-up.
Gordon Drummond had got the match off to a fine start for Scotland by removing Karim Sadiq with the first ball, and without Samiullah Shenwari’s 46 from number eight the visitors would have subsided for far fewer than the 120 they mustered.
Gavin Hamilton and Ryan Flannigan fell early in the home side’s reply but Fraser Watts made 55 not out at the top of the innings and Richie Berrington 33 as Scotland eased to victory with 16.1 overs remaining.
