Richie Berrington became only the seventh batsman to make an international Twenty20 century as Scotland beat Bangladesh by 34 runs in The Hague, Netherlands.

The 25-year-old opener hit 10 fours and five sixes in his 56-ball century as the visitors secured their first competitive win over a full member nation.

Bangladesh, who entered the match on the back of a 3-0 series win against Ireland, produced a sub-par batting performance with only Shakib Al Hasan passing 30 and they have slipped to ninth in the ICC T20 rankings.

Berrington was the stand-out performer in the match and shared a fourth-wicket stand of 64 in seven overs with Preston Mommsen, during which Mommsen contributed 12 off 16 balls.

Scotland’s next highest score was Calum MacLoed’s 19, while Berrington completed his maiden T20 century before falling on exactly 100 to Abdur Razzak as the Saltires posted 162-7.

Tamim Iqbal made a brisk 25 off 19 balls at the start of Bangladesh's reply, but wickets continued to fall regularly and their hopes of victory had vanished when top-scorer Shakib was the seventh man out for 31.

Three wickets apiece for Majid Haq and Josh Davey ensured Scotland duly closed out a convincing win as the tourists were dismissed inside 18 overs for 128.
