Dilhara Fernando

Sri Lanka have recalled fit-again seamer Dilhara Fernando for the one-day series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

The 32-year-old last played competitively in June’s third npower Test against England at the Rose Bowl where he sustained an injury that ruled him out of the NatWest Series.

Sri Lanka’s 15-man party contains seven changes from the Test squad involved in the final match versus Pakistan, who lead the rubber 1-0, at Sharjah. Opening batsmen Tharanga Paranavitana and Lahiru Thirimanne, plus left-arm spinner Rangana Herath are among those to miss out.

Dimuth Karunaratne, who played twice in July’s NatWest Series defeat, returns, but there is no place for spinner Ajantha Mendis, who suffered a back problem in the Test series with Australia that ruled him out of the current one.

Seamer Dhammika Prasad is also back after missing the one-day series against Australia. Batsman Chamara Silva and seamer Nuwan Kulasekara, who both featured in that series, make way.

Sri Lanka will play five ODIs against Pakistan, with the first on November 11 in Dubai.

Sri Lanka squad: Tillakaratne Dilshan (captain), Upul Tharanga, Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara (wicketkeeper), Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Jeevan Mendis, Kosala Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga, Suranga Lakmal, Dhammika Prasad, Seekkuge Prasanna, Dimuth Karunaratne, Dilhara Fernando, Suraj Randiv.
